Ongoing Projects

Street Safety

One of the big priorities for the neighborhood is to work towards making our streets safer by advocating for street safety measures, sidewalk expansions and improvements, and other measures that help ensure that everyone — no matter their age or level of mobility — is able to enjoy the neighborhood.

ANC Actions

On March 21, ANC 5E passed the resolution I co-authored advocating for sidewalk fixes and sidewalk repairs on several blocks of Rhode Island Avenue NW and NE, and North Capitol St NW. You can read the resolution here. As a result of the resolution, the related Traffic Safety Input requests for sidewalk fixes were chosen by DDOT for investigation in Q3.

On May 16, ANC 5E passed the resolution I authored advocating for safety measures on the unit block of Rhode Island Avenue NW. You can read the resolution here.

On September 19, ANC 5E passed the resolution I co-authored endorsing multiple safety and transportation bills that the D.C. Council is taking up for consideration. You can read the resolution here.

On December 19, ANC 5E passed a resolution I authored asking for DDOT to investigate safety improvements on the 100 block of T St NW. You can read the resolution here.

311 Safe Streets Requests

Cleaner Streets

Results: In July 2023, the Department of Public Works (DPW) fulfilled my request to install a new public litter can at 1st and U St NW (located outside U First Market). The public litter can will help reduce the litter on the streets, especially at this high-traffic intersection located outside a business and a block away from a park in one direction, and a block away from a bus stop in the other direction.

Read DPW's FAQs about best practices for use of public litter cans here.

I also organize monthly neighborhood cleanups in the area with residents - you can information about upcoming cleanups here.

Community Support

In March 2024, ANC 5E approved a grant for $2000- with my support! - to help support costs related to Crispus Attucks Development Corporation's annual Bloomingdale Community Day.

DPW has also allocated funds for the development of the playground in its FY25 budget request. If you would like to be involved, please email me at 5E04@anc.dc.gov
